3 qt cranberry juice cocktail
3/4 cup sugar
3 (3 1/2-inch) cinnamon sticks
4 whole star anise
1 (3-inch) piece gingerroot, peeled and thinly sliced
2 cups amber or dark rum

Preparation

  1. Bring cranberry juice, sugar, spices, and ginger to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then simmer, covered, 10 minutes. Stir in rum and serve hot.
